About Us

What do we stand for, and what’s the point of Indieoma?

Our goal is to take an independent look at life through the prism of art and ideas. We all have our favorite music, film, art and politics sites that we check regularly; but we saw a missing piece – something comprehensive that ties it all together in some kind of context. For us, that context is your day-to-day life. What kind of home you create, how you participate in your community and in the global economy. How do your choices of music, film, design, literature inform your actions and how do they impact the quality of your life?

You’ll see interviews and conversations with new artists on Indieoma, and you’ll see features on big issues through the lens of music, film, art, literature and politics. And you’ll get an opportunity to participate

If you’d like to join us, just click the “register” button near the top right of the page, and you’ll be ready to go (technically, you don’t “have” to register, but if you don’t, you’ll miss some important things like the system remembering your customized play list when you return).

And in case you’re wondering, the name “Indieoma” is a mash up of the words “independent” and “idioma” (the Spanish word for language). Which makes our tagline – “The Language of Independence” – pretty obvious. No?

About the Media Player

We made some big changes for the new Indieoma. The most important – clicking a link won’t interrupt the video or audio stream. This is our vision for how to navigate and personalize your online media experience, something that lets you explore and discover and easily customize what you watch and hear.

You can also customize your play list by clicking either the “Play Now” or “Add to Queue” link below each video or audio clip graphic. And you can drag and drop the clips in your play list to re-order them any way you want. And you can use the “add to favs” or “remove from list” save what you like and get rid of what you don’t.

And don’t forget to register. When you do, Indieoma will automatically remember your play list when you return, so you can load up a bunch of clips and not have to worry if you don’t have time to see or hear them all.
